What is a Staff Representative Group?
A Staff Representative Group (SRG) is defined as the shared governance body at a school, college, extended campus, or vice-presidential level unit. SRGs serve as the official collective voice of the staff in a unit. What does a Staff Representative Group do?
SRGs allow staff to have a formal way to build better relationships with each other, between departments, and with unit leadership. Staff benefit from community created by engaging with their SRG.
SRGs enable staff to participate in the formal workflow of information sharing to and from Staff Council and their unit staff.
SRGs discuss unit specific ideas, concerns, issues. They can bring these concepts to unit leadership or UGASC.
SRGs elect representatives to UGASC.

How does an SRG benefit unit leadership?
SRGs protect unit leadership’s time and energy so they only see the best ideas or the worst problems that staff can’t fix themselves. SRGs can offer unit leadership creative solutions and allow greater understanding of the staff experience.
