Jerry Daniel

Chair

Jerry has worked for UGA since 2001 in various IT roles. Jerry has a history degree from UGA, focused on Hernán Cortés and the conquest of Mexico. Currently, Jerry works for the Department of Mathematics as a IT Professional. He has held that position since 2008.

Jerry began his service with Staff Council as the representative from Franklin College of Arts and Sciences in 2007. He served as a representative then as the Vice Chair. Jerry has served as chair since 2010.

The duties of the Chair include but are not limited to serving on the UGA Foundation Board, the Alumni Association Board, the Board of Visitors, and the University Council. Most recently Jerry was asked to serve as a member of the search committee for the next president of UGA.

Marcus Jennings

Vice Chair

Marcus has been a member of the UGA community since 2001 and has served as an administrative assistant for the Office of Alumni Relations since 2003. Through that role, he provides a number of contributions that impact alumni engagement and stewardship.

Currently, he co-represents the External Affairs division on the University-wide Staff Council and holds the executive position of Vice Chair. He is also a member of their Health and Safety Committee and serves on the University Council Faculty/ Staff Parking Ticket Appeal Board. As an extension of his Vice Chair role, he serves as UGA’s representative to the University System of Georgia Staff Council.

As Chair of his division’s Staff Representative Group, and with the assistance of his fellow reps, he oversaw the implementation of External Affairs’ division newsletter, re-launch of their SRG website, and coordination of successful staff engagement events.

Christine Jepsen

Parliamentarian

Christine serves in the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs, where she is able to employ her professional background in association management, publications, and event planning. Among her responsibilities is supervising the production and distribution of the daily news brief, “Georgia Morning.”

A UGA alumna, Christine holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. During her time as an undergraduate, she worked as a reporter at WUOG Radio station and played two seasons on the Women’s Lacrosse team.

Currently, Christine is a member of the UGA Campus Emergency Response Team. In addition, she has enjoyed serving as Vice-Chair of the External Affairs Staff Representative Group, working on the Employee Recognition Celebration committee, and holding the position of building Safety and Security officer.

She has served as the coordinator for Staff Council since 2012. In this position Christine is responsible for the budget and logistics that keep Staff Council running smoothly.

Jonathan Liston

Recording Secretary

Jon serves as Recording Secretary for Staff Council. He has served since 2010 in the Finance and Administration Staff Representative Group (SRG) as Parliamentarian, and now as Vice Chair. Jon has worked at UGA since 2008 as a Supervisor with Building Services. He is a graduate student and has also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Workforce Education.

Michael Lewis

Executive Committee

Michael currently represents Franklin College on the Staff Council, and is an At-Large member of the Executive Committee. At UGA since 2005, he is the Information Technology Professional in the Department of Geology.

Michael holds a degree in Computer Information Science from the University of Kentucky.

Previously, Michael was a Staff Senator at the University of Kentucky, serving two terms on the joint faculty/staff Institutional Effectiveness and Financial Review Committee. He was a member of the President’s Round-table Advisory Group at General Electric Medical Systems, and the President’s Council at Johnson & Johnson.

These roles have provided him with a wide range of experiences representing fellow employees to management and administration in academia and business.

Guillermo Alzuru

Executive Committee

Guillermo has a degree in Computer Science, a masters degree in Operations research from Georgia Tech and a Master of Education in Computer-Based Education from UGA.

Currently, Guillermo works for the Web Instructional Developement department at the UGA’s Center for Continuing Education (http://webiduga.com), where he designs and develops online courses, both for credit and non-credit. He has held that position since 1999.

Guillermo has been a part of the Service and Outreach Staff Representative Group for several years, and has served as Staff Representative to the Staff Council since 2005. He was a member of the Employee Benefits Committee (currently the Human Resources Committee) for 2 years, and has been the Staff Representative to the UGA’s Retirees Association Council since 2010. Currently, Guillermo is a member of the Executive Committee of the Staff Council.

Terry Camp

Executive Committee

Terry worked with UGA libraries in the 1970’s and then took time off to raise her two great boys with her husband Randy. During that time, she taught school, taught parenting classes through the Athens Council of child abuse, and opened a pub/restaurant called the Globe.

She returned to UGA in 2001 to work for Dr. Eugene P. Odum in the former Institute of Ecology now the Odum School of Ecology where she manages the Odum Library. Terry’s outside activities include serving on the board of the Oconee River Land Trust and the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Natural History
