Summary of Parking & Transportation Task Force 2003-04
Bob Ratajczak - staff rep

The Parking & Transportation Task Force dealt with many details involved with on campus parking and transportation. The following is just a summary of the ones that had the most impact on staff.

1.) The main issues for discussion this past year that staff were concerned with were items such as:

Overbooked Lots

Illegal parking/Congestion

Miscellaneous

Fake Parking tags

Traffic signs in North deck (N06)

High cost of lost parking stickers

Parking Services pledged that in concerned areas that there would be an increase in patrols and that the number of permits issued in problem areas would be cut back if lots remained overbooked.

2.) Bus routes
There continues to be problems with bus service when classes are not in session
- the remedy is not easy due to budget cuts - so increased service is not an option at the
present time

There will be a change in the Milledge bus route in Fall 2004 to allow shorter trips for
riders depending on what part of campus they are heading
The bus will make a North campus loop and also a south campus loop and travel
both directions on Milledge Ave.

There was discussion on having bus drivers have multiple routes to drive on a shift to
give them some variety on the job. No final decision was made yet by Campus Transit.

3.) Ramsey Center Parking
Currently the Ramsey Center pays a fee to Parking Services to allow faculty & staff the
ability to park short term in lot E03 in order to work out. This payment will be stopped
next year and faculty and staff will have to buy an extra tag for $36 / year
