Issues/Results 2003-2004

Issue: Re-opening of investigation into on-campus subsidized child care for UGA employees

Result: There is no money for this at the present time. Issue tabled.

Issue: Water quality in UGA drinking fountains

Result: Brice Nelson opened communication with several appropriate campus offices and based on recommendations drafted a letter to Ralph Johnson of the Physical Plant with suggestions for improving/monitoring drinking water quality on campus. Financial difficulties prohibited any action.

Issue: Pedestrian safety on campus

Result: Campus police were contacted and provided assurance that everything possible is being done to keep pedestrians safe on campus and to monitor and ticket traffic offenders. Campus police have several ongoing and potential programs toward this end.

Issue: Adjusting UGA holiday schedule to designate Monday, December 24, 2007 an official UGA holiday

Result: Committee prepared a letter to UGA President Adams signed by Staff Council President Paul Totis requesting this change in the holiday schedule. The request was granted; December 24, 2007 was designated a holiday. To meet requirements for total number of paid holidays per year, UGA will not observe a paid holiday on Memorial Day 2007.
