SUMMARY OF HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE 2004-2005

The Health and Safety Committee meets by email prior to Staff Council monthly meetings. Issues regarding safety are brought to the attention of this committee periodically throughout the year.

ISSUES

Item: Overgrown shrubbery blocking sidewalk near Boyd Graduate Studies building.
Result: Contacted grounds crew in the vicinity who agreed to work on shrubs. Clipping successfully completed.

Item: Question concerning workplace posters, their requisite display, and disparity therewith.
Result: Compiled list from official university sources of required postings and distributed at Staff Council meeting (also listed in official minutes).

Item: Traffic congestion at the intersection of East Campus Drive and Green Street at close of work day.
Result: Not fully resolved. Faculty and staff in College of Education met with Parking Services (no resolution), then formed a committee to look into solving this problem. It was decided to close the parking lot at Aderhold until 5pm.
