University of Georgia Staff Council
MINUTES OF THE June 6, 2001 MEETING
Law School Auditorium

The meeting was called to order by the president, Sarah Fraker.

Sarah welcomed the new members for 2001-2002 and introduced our guest from the UGA Architects Office, Danny Sniff.

Danny Sniff presented plans for the new green space proposed for Brooks Drive. In the past few months there was a feasibility study for Brooks Drive, responses and refining of the project and finally a press conference, and a web page was done to introduce the new plan to UGA personnel and students. The Master Plan is to have a "green" corridor from the Arches to Lake Herrick. The implementation will be done in phases: first there will be provisions made for emergency services and access to parking areas, Sanford will become a two lane road, additional or new bus stops will be added, and new electrical and water infrastructure will be added. It will be a four year project.

Major concern of the meeting attendees was the loss of parking. Danny assured everyone that any parking lost will be replaced in other areas.

Danny brought display maps for the group and was very open to questions. His email address is dsniff@arches.uga.edu and he asked the group to e-mail him with any questions they might have.

Sarah thanked Danny and his staff for their presentation.

Brenda Keen called the roll.
