Major push is coming from faculty recruitment issue. Facility will be available to students and the possibility of having a 24 hour facility is being explored.
Subcommittee under Needs and Concerns headed by Brenda Keen has met and is preparing a paper to educate legislators regarding the salaries and benefits of staff versus faculty at UGA. This committee should have a draft to present at the USGSC meeting in October.

MEMORANDUM TO: Members of UGA Staff Council
FROM: Loretta Harper Associate Vice President for Human Resources
The past few weeks have been filled with a myriad of emotions for me ranging from excitement to extreme sadness. As I leave for Utah, I cannot help but reflect upon the past twenty months that I have been privileged to spend at the University of Georgia.
One of my earliest and fondest memories of UGA will always be the manner in which the Staff Council welcomed me to the campus. Your kindness and graciousness coupled with your concern for this institution and for each other made an immediate impression on me. You have been not only willing to voice your concerns but also to be a part of shaping solutions to improve the University of Georgia.
There are many initiatives underway that I encourage you to continue to support - the classification and pay study, child care, exit interviews, employee recognition programs and improvements in communications between HR and employees. Your advice and participation in these initiatives and others will help ensure their successful implementation.
I have been honored to have the opportunity to know many of you and to work with you. I regret that I could not be with you today to tell you this personally. Please remember that I will be easy to find at the University of Utah and would welcome the opportunity to talk with you at any time.
When I am back in Georgia to visit, do not be surprised if you look up and see me. If you are ever in the Salt Lake City area, please look me up ... especially if you happen to be carrying a thermos of sweet tea.
The Screening Committee (from the Search Committee to replace Loretta Harper) has sent a list of candidates to Hank Huckaby. The Executive Committee of Staff Council will be part of the interview process. Classification and Pay surveys are due back to Human Resources by Friday, September 15 at 4PM. The next meeting of Staff Council will be held on October 4 at 2:30PM in the Auditorium of the Law School. There was no further old or new business. Meeting adjourned. Joyce H. Moss Secretary
