UGA-SC will request that at least one elected staff representative be included on the selection committee for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.
UGA-SC proposes elected staff representation (from Staff Representative Group or Staff Council) on search committees for dean level and above.
Staff Council will send a letter to the Athens-Clarke County government and University Architects for Facilities Planning, with copies to Physical Plant, Public Safety, and Alan Barber, expressing concerns over safety at Thomas Street, Lumpkin Street, and Carlton Street and mentioning bridges, relocation of crosswalks, and installation of flashers as possible safety measures.
The UGA inauguration committee has planned a symposium entitled "Visions of the 21st Century Workplace" at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5 at the Seney-Stovall Chapel on North Milledge Ave. Board of Regents member Juanita Baranco will be keynote speaker. Panelists will be Dr. Arthur Dunning, Sr. Vice Chancellor for Human and External Resources, and Ramona Hasan, University System of Georgia Staff Council Chair. All staff are invited.
Peggy Herrman will present a special session on how to have a mediated discussion on April 1, following an abbreviated regular meeting of UGA-SC in Room Q of the Georgia Center. The session will be open to anyone who is interested.
The Executive Committee met with President Adams, VP for Business and Finance Allan Barber, and Victor Wilson, staff liaison from the President's Office. Several issues were discussed, such as catastrophic leave, Alternative Dispute Resolution, classification and pay, and mandatory training for and evaluation of supervisors.
Jeannie Dawson will chair the Nominating Committee, charged with presenting a slate of nominations for officers and Executive Committee for next year. Stephanie Watson will investigate how representation in UGA-SC will change after the restructuring implemented by President Adams.
The Communications Committee wants to hear from areas with webpages that would like a link on the UGA-SC webpage.
UGA-SC will inquire when VP for Human Resources Carlton James will publish procedures for tuition remission.
Is there is a consistent pattern of employees being overcharged for parking tickets through payroll deductions? Employees having such problems should contact their representative.
